It seems like the norm for a rapper these day doesn't it?!!? Oddly enough Rule is in there for not breaking uncle Sam off some of that bread!
It is alleged that the raper owes more than 1 million dollars in taxes to the US government.
The once famous rapper and front runner for Murder Inc. has been sentenced to more than two years for failing to file tax returns for damn near three years!
Rule, real name Jeffrey Atkins, admitted moments before being sentenced to not having good financial guidance. Mr Atkins made the news back in 2007 for pleading guilty to a weapons-related charge. He is now serving his sentence in a correctional facility in upstate New York. No bling or swag to boast Atkins showed up in court donning a yellow jump suit- not very fashion forward Rule.
Stating that his business "was out of sight, out of mind" the lawyer for Ja Rule, Stacey Richman, told the judge that her client was a talented high-school drop out who didn't have the business prowess to deal with his sudden fame and fortune.
Ja Rule asked to be shown leniency as the sooner he got back to work , the sooner he would be able to pay back the money that he now owes.
Appearing in more than a dozen movies and a once lucrative music career, the Assistant US attorney for the case asked that he not be let off without serving some jail time, stating that a message had to be sent and that he should be charged as would someone who wasn't a celebrity.
Can't blame someone else for ur ignorance. Smt. U knew u had to pay ur taxes you shoulda checked on ya people to make sure it was done. I wonder if fifty would be in this position though.
